Many lessons have been learnt from this experience, none of which I could fathom without something like this happening.

Value of friendship
I’m not saying that I’ve never valued friendship from the start, what I’m saying is to cherish every moment when you can. When its time to say goodbye, without getting a chance to say goodbye, that really says something. I never got the opportunity to say my farewell without him saying farewell back – and this is the pain I feel.

Family love…
When we went to his house for the blessing, about 20 of us stood in front of his mum while she wept. It was the most heart wrenching thing I’ve seen in my life. Never have I seen such anguish on a persons face. Not only was it hard to bear, but a close friend, whom I thought was very emotionally strong broke down. I guess it puts some real perspective into what happened.

Brotherly love…
Most of our school friends gathered at Paul’s house. From word of mouth people from all areas got together. This overwhelming feeling struck me most when I was at the crash scene, sitting there under the stars. We all huddled next to the memorial and lit him cigarettes. Why did it take for such an event to happen for us to forget our differences? Something like this had to happen for all the boys to get together again? What I’m saying is that we need to take advantage of all the times we have with our friends – don’t wait for something like this to happen for us to forget the differences we have with others.

Paul Nguyen
1985 – 2004

Not just any club, Asian clubs

In case you didn’t know, I’m Asian, so this article isn’t really paying the shit out of Asian’s, well, yes it is, but I mean I’ve got slanty eyes too so its okay. (I think?) I’ve been a regular hitter of the nightclub scene since 2002, and a few times before I was 18 for the illustrious City Live at Fox. And from this experience, what have I gathered?
Asians, well, Asians at hip-hop and rnb parties have a serious attitude problem. Let me paint you the typical Asian picture, a bunch of girls are dancing and having fun, and there’s a bunch of guys having fun aswell. THEN, there’s a bunch of twats standing on the side with their cigarettes, bottles of Corona, split dyed hair and their eminent dirty looks. Oh yea, and it’s never just oneguy, it has to be factor of 2, because you can’t have one without the other. GET THAT FREAKIN POLE OUT OF YOUR ASS I say. HAVE SOME FREAKEN FUN and enjoy the bloody night. Without fail, a glee comes across my face as a chuckle at the plain monotony of these people standing on the sides of the dance floor with the drabbed and tired weary faces. They must be having the time of their lives *cough*.
This hard image is a clearly contrary to the trance and hard NRG scene, where people are fun and talk to everyone – its probably because they’re off their faces, but that’s besides the point. Even the Asians at places like subbies don’t have issues.

Asians at hip hop and RnB, take a cue from the trance scene, get a life and have some fucken fun – chill the fuck out and just enjoy yourselves.

CityRail: Sorry

It seems that trains and the epidemic of running late has been pushed to the forefront after various people have decided to ‘fight against’ CityRail as an aim to ‘make things better’ – that is, fix the rail system. I’m writing to apologise for the stupidity of Sydney siders. Think logic here idiots who catch the train, if someone gets sick, a fire breaks out or some other disruption occurs, it’s quite obvious that a system that works on TIMING will be affected. All this talk about ‘bloody CityRail get your act together’, is completely ridiculous. People can only do so much and they’re only doing their bloody job.
Think about this scenario, you’re a hairdresser and you book someone in at <st1:time minute="0" hour="13">1pm</st1:time>. However, at <st1:time minute="45" hour="12">12:45</st1:time> a person comes in to get their haircut. Should you wait 15 minutes the booked customer to come in? NO. So in this situation, CityRail is the hairdresser and YOU, the pissed off passenger is the customer that’s booked in. Should the hairdresser not get paid for customer that first comes in? How stupid does that sound? Now, how stupid do you sound?

People, there’s a thing called restraint, it usually happens between the brain and the mouth. Sure enough you’re pissed off, but get over it, they’re just doing their bloody job.

Relationships: Girls and Games

Is it me or do girls tend to think that relationships are a game? Not only that, but guys don't have feelings and screwing around with them is OK because it doesn't hurt. I have a mate who has had a relationship problem lately and, although not in the relationship yet, he has been shattered to bits by this girl because she seems to show conflicting feelings at different times.

First, it begins with the
'i don't like you, but ill get to know you scenario
Then, it moves to the
'WOW, you're a nice guy, ill get to know you more and I hope our next outing is a date'
Finally,
'I don't know if I'm ready for a relationship, ill take a raincheck'
This al happens within the space of 2 weeks. Given that my friend is head over heals for this girl, I've given varying degrees of advice, beginning at the "I'm not going to tell you what to do, but you should.." all the way to the "Fuck it, just tell her what's going on or you'll get screwed around even more".

It just comes down to the fact that

My friend, I just had a conversation with you about compromise and whether or not you should copromise in a relationship. Yes, compromise is inevitable in a relationship mate, but I think that if you walk into the relationship by sacrificing, you'll be compromising for the ENTIRE relationship. You said to me that only in time that you will tell her how you feel - guess what, if you stop beating around the bush with these mind games, so will she!

A friend and I have come up with a conclusion about women - to women, its all a game. Why can't girls just not 'think' so much and take every day as it comes.? Why can't they just accept things for the way they are and not read into 'issues' that aren't even issues? It's a bloody joke, why can't the other gender just chill out and not think of the alternate situations.
Can someone out there provide me with an insight?

Sports: Australia v New Zealand

Now that was a first class game to watch, from the Australian's fluctuating performance and lack lustre opening performance, to the two partnerships that put New Zealand in their place. Hats off to Glenn McGrath, first for his 61 and then to his superb bowling effort @ 3/19 - Unlucky not to receive the man of the match. Peopl are even comparing it to, THAT CATCH

However, one of the issues that I would like to bring up is the Gilchrist/McCullum incident. Everyone is saying that Gilchrist should respect the choices of other batters, and because he is deemed a walker, it doesn't mean that everyone else should walk. Whatever happened to sportsmanship? I think the muppets batting should give bowlers credit when the credit is due, and if you've been given not out, and you are out, its up to you and your conscience to walk. Obviously the following ball provides testament to the notion that cheaters never prevail, but that's not the point. McCullum, your an idiot for trying to even argue with Gilchrist after the game - it boils down to sportsmanship and whether or not you have it...

Geek review: Firefox 1.0

Just a review of the recently released Firefox 1.0 (http://www.mozilla.org/products/firefox) commending developers and recommending users alike. What can I say, I've been using Firefox since the 0.6 stages and it has seriously grown from strength to strength - hopefully it can remove the strangle hold that Microsoft has over the browser market with their Internet Explorer.
Great features, tabbed browsing, meaning you don't have to have a billion items on your taskbar, just one browser item with many tabs in it. Clicking on a link with the scroll wheel on your mouse will open the link in a new tab - ingenious! However, one of the greatest features that Firefox comes equipped with is the anti popup blocker. Pre-installed on the package is a utility that stops those annoying popups for online gambling and smiley faces. Popups are the most annoying thing in the world, and for the Mozdev team to come up with this feature proves testament to providing the needs of modern Internet users.
The live RSS feed feature is something that's a serious innovation. Pages such as this one, that support live RSS/ATOM feeds mean you don't have to actually open the page to know that an update has been made. When opening a page with a live RSS/ATOM feed using Firefox, a little bookmark icon will appear on the bottom right. Clicking on that will add the page to your bookmarks and you can see the headlines of that page without actually visiting it. - great for news feeds.
Customise the Firefox look with skins and themes (I'm currently using Noia eXtreme). The easy search bar which links to Google, eBay, Yahoo, and others. A lot of the developers are using it at work and they highly recommend the product, as do I.

Overall a great *FREE* product.
Rating: 10/10

Sports: THAT fight

Just writing in regards to that 'FIGHT' that occured in the NBA, ("http://sports.espn.go.com/nba/columns/story?columnist=caple_jim&id=1927880"). What an embarrassing image adding fuel to the already tainted image the (NBA) league has, from their inability to control their players, to the committment of materialism that has the game turned into a Friday 'Fight night' show case. Who should take responsibility? EVERYONE, in this case, the problem stems from many people; Ben Wallace for overreacting, the Detroit fans for being muppets and throwing things (what scares me is, what happens if it wasn't just a bottle?) and of course, the Pacer players for going into the crowd. I've played basketball for a very long time, and there's a saying, 'what happens on the court stays on the court', and although these players were caught up in the heat of the moment, the Pacer players shouldn't just be allowed to climb into the crowd and clobber fans. That said, fans shouldnt be allowed to walk onto the floor during the melee. I think that the best alternative that could be made is to follow the cricket, make against these hooligans. Strip these people of their season passes and dont let them into the stadium. One things for sure, the NBA can't barracde the court from the crowd.. That would just make the fans feel even further from the game they love

Miscellaneous: My first blog entry

Weather - Cloudy
Mood - Bored
Listening to - Pete Murray

This person got me into blogging - she's stuffed me up for the rest of my exams =/

WOW, another great day of procrastinating, steering clear of my attempts of learning about something which I doubt I'll ever use - Networking. What is it with exams and the fear of study, its not hard, its just sitting down and getting started. I think this blog will take many forms and explore various issues, ranging from news and sports, nerdy and geeky stuff as well as the boring rants which I generally do in life.

Sports:
Sunday, the day which God set to rest, has now seem to become a blokes best friend:
Channel 10: Motorsports
Channel 9: Cricket
Channel 7: Union
ABC: Cycling

I was watching the cricket today, talking on the phone and studying all at the same time. Some people say talent for multitasking, I say an inability to keep my mind focused on one thing. I think getting this new laptop of mine has been a terrible idea. Its promoted bad health, I've been in bed all day and I've only gotten up for the bare necessities in life. This whole wireless network thing works a charm, but I think ill get sick from all this lying down.
This mindless banter must come to an end, STUDY is calling me.
